Other anger management counsellors

We have access to a network of other experienced anger management counsellors in Cambridge when necessary.

Louise Lowth

Hi, I’m Louise. I work as an anger management counsellor, counsellor and psychotherapist. I am also in the final stages of my doctoral research in counselling psychology.

I have particular experience in anger management and in issues of self confidence.

In addition to Cambridge Anger Management, I work for the NHS, where I see individual clients and run a range of psychotherapy groups. I also work for Cambridge Counselling Service.

I’m an integrative relational counsellor, which means I believe that relationships are what makes us who we are and our experiences can be best understood within the context of our relationships. Counselling provides the setting of a professional and supportive relationship, and difficult emotions and experiences can be explored within this context. As a result of such exploration, you may find that you have greater understanding along with increased capacity for choice and autonomy.

I have a first degree in psychology, I am a qualified psychotherapist, I have diploma in teaching and I am in the final stages doctoral research in counselling psychology. I am also trained in facilitating psychotherapy groups and have trained to Master Practitioner level in Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP). I trained in psychotherapy at the renowned Metanoia Institute in London.

In terms of memberships, I am a member of the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) psychotherapy section and Member of the British Psychological Society (BPS).

I am bound by the UKCP’s ethical principles and code of professional conduct.

I offer anger management sessions on Monday, Tuesday, Thursdays and Fridays.

Mark Gawlinski

Hi, I’m Mark. I work as an anger management counsellor, counsellor. psychotherapist, coach and supervisor (of counsellors, coaches and organisational development practitioners). I am also the co-founder of Cambridge Counselling Service.

I hope we will be able to work together to make a positive and sustainable difference to your life. I also specialise in working with people dealing with anger issues and with people facing problems at work/in a career.

I have previously worked as an Associate Counsellor at the University of Cambridge Counselling Service, at a counselling service in London and at the NHS Complex Cases Service Cambridge, part of NHS Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Mental Health Foundation Trust. I have also worked as a senior lecturer in leadership for a university and as an organisational development consultant, coach and trainer in a number of organisations.

My work as a senior lecturer focused on the psychology of change in individuals and groups - and I am currently writing a book about how to get the most from counselling, coaching and change.

I am trained as a relational gestalt counsellor and psychotherapist. I work 'relationally' and at relational depth. This means I work with the on-going relationship between the client and anger management counsellor and see this as an essential component of sustainable change. I focus on helping my clients identify their psychological patterns - and then explore whether and how they can change them.

I did my counselling and psychotherapy training at the Metanoia Institute, London.

In terms of qualifications and memberships, I am a qualified psychotherapist (MSc in Psychotherapy), a qualified counsellor (Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling) and a registrant with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) - psychotherapy section. I have a first degree in psychology, a masters degree in psychotherapy and a masters degree in organisation consulting. One master’s degree research dissertation was on depression, the other on the psychological issues faced by people at work.

As a registrant with UKCP, I am bound by UKCP’s Ethical Framework and subject to the UKCP professional conduct procedure.

I am registered with a range of private medical and well-being insurance providers, including Aviva, PruHealth, CPA, Cigna and Benenden Healthcare. I can accept referrals from GPs or psychiatrists, subject the terms of your health insurance provision.

I am available for appointments: Tuesday day time, Wednesday day time and early evening, Thursday day time and Friday day time.

Jo Lucas - background

Hello. I am Jo. I work as a counsellor, anger management counsellor, psychotherapist and social work consultant.

I have worked with people with a wide range of issues, including: low self esteem, anxiety, low self confidence, relationship problems, loss and trauma.

I have also worked in a wide variety of organisations, including as a chief executive of small one, so I have a particular interest and understanding of the pressures we face when trying to carve out some space for ourselves in relation to work and in dealing with the issues arising from being in a team or organisation. I also have a good understanding of the pressure faced by women in developing their careers and their businesses.

In addition to Cambridge Counselling Service, I work with a number of universities and NGOs carrying out evaluations of projects, training staff and  developing social work education.

I ran business networking groups for women running their own small businesses and have worked internationally for 15 years as a social work trainer and consultant.

I have a masters degree in psychotherapy (integrative) and I am registered with UKCP, I am bound by the UKCP ethical framework and subject to their professional conduct procedures.

I am available Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday day times and evenings.

Ed Tuffnell - background

Hello, I’m Ed.  I work as an anger management counsellor, counsellor and psychotherapist.

For the last six years, I have been seeing clients in my private practice, for the last two I have also been working for the NHS. During this time I have worked successfully with a wide range of issues, including anger. I have worked with people from various backgrounds, cultures and life-experiences – university students and teachers, doctors, businessmen, workers in many other fields and the unemployed.

My background is mainly in care, I have worked with many vulnerable client groups; children, the homeless, those with learning disabilities, people with mental health issues and the elderly. I also spent several years working at the Cambridge Buddhist Centre. I am a practising Buddhist but I have no wish to convert anybody, I welcome clients from all spiritual traditions and none. I am a husband and a father of two children.

I began to realise my interest in psychotherapy and counselling 17 years ago when I volunteered to become a Samaritan. Several years later I completed the first year of a psychodynamic counselling training, but I discontinued it as part of my search to find a course that honoured the spiritual dimension in experience as well as the psychological. I found what I was looking for in being trained to become a “Core Process” psychotherapist – a humanist/integrative form of psychotherapy in which I hold an MA

I am an accredited member of the UKCP (United Kingdom Council of Psychotherapists) and a registered member of the BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists) and as such I am bound by both the BACP’s and the UKCP’s ethical principals and code of professional conduct.

I am available for appointments on Monday and Tuesday during the day time
